It is in the orchard of the Museum Van Buuren that Geneviève Levivier deploys her latest in situ installation full of visual and tactile surprises. To create these latest hitherto unseen monumental creations, inspired by the philosophy of Arts & Crafts of the Museum's colorful works - geometric rugs, still lifes… - Geneviève first collected branches cut in the Museum's gardens and put in the compost, to revive them in the form of works, installed in their place of origin. Proposing a new form of creation largely inspired by her know-how in textiles, pictorial techniques and an experimental eco-responsible design process Geneviève’s tapestries and textile sculptures are conceived and interpreted as abstract paintings. The majority of her works, using flowers, plants, egg shells, natural fibers, and branches from now... interact with natural light and shadows. She explains «I try to capture a moment in the fluid natural world and strive to render it somewhat eternal. My works conserve a portion of nature, interact with it and hopefully stimulate contemplation and interpretation.» Textiles, as a medium, offer infinite possibilities of interaction with space and light in parallel with the body and its five senses. Therefore the notion of synesthesia becomes central in her work. Creating in harmony with a place or a theme, she conceives tapestries or textile sculptures as does a composer of musical variations.
